Ever since I could walk, my dad and I have been making beef jerky as a Saturday night activity.

We don’t make it by scratch because that would be too much. We buy either hamburger meat or turkey burger from the store and he would order the jerky season from Amazon. The seasoning he buys Nesco American Harvest Jerky Seasoning in original.

The story I remember the most was when we lived in our old house in MTZ and my dad wanted to stay in and have a movie night. So we decided it would be perfect to make jerky. We THOUGHT we had everything we needed at home, but we soon figured out that we had no seasoning at home. We couldn’t order any, so we ran to the store and got what we could find. We only found Hot&Spicy.

Going home, we made the jerky like we always do. He mixes it together and I put the jerky on the trays.

It usually takes 12 hours to cook because we put it in a dehydrator, so we do it on Friday nights. The whole house smells amazing!!

Since we got the Hot&Spicy, we never tried it before, we just thought it would add a LITTLE heat. BUT NO. They were spicy! It was almost at the point where we couldn’t eat it. We suffered through the pain and heat and enjoyed our beef sticks.

When making this, we usually use hamburger meat, but you can use any type of ground meat. With every 2 lbs of meat you use, you add one package of the jerky seasoning, Nesco American Harvest Jerky Seasoning. We have a jerky gun and we have a dehydrator. We usually fill up 5 trays and that’s with 2 lbs of meat.
